Resilience is a measure of the vampire’s supernatural fortitude. Vampires that hone their skill in this discipline are capable of extraordinary feats of almost superhuman Stamina, including surviving in the harshest environments and even toughening their skin to stop bullets.

For this technique’s duration, the vampire grants himself an armor rating equal to his Resilience rating. This supernatural armor applies against any and all effects that damage the vampire, including environmental damage.

Marble Hardness

Trigger: Taking damage from an attack
The vampire reduces the number of health levels of damage he takes from a single source by his Resilience rating. Against aggravated damage, the vampire may only ignore half his Resilience rating (rounded up).

Resilient Flesh

While this Technique is active, the vampire may downgrade damage from a number of attacks equal to his Resilience rating. Aggravated damage becomes lethal and lethal damage becomes bashing. The vampire may also choose not to downgrade the damage of an attack since doing so is handled reflexively after damage is resolved. The vampire may even downgrade damage dealt from environmental sources. This Technique may be reactivated after it is completely expended or activated again to “refresh” the number of attacks the vampire may downgrade but the vampire cannot accumulate more than his Resilience rating in downgrades at once.

Even though the vampire’s undead body is incredibly resistant to environmental extremes, developing this discipline grants the vampire true immunity over the natural world. Activating this technique prevents the vampire from taking any damage from naturally occurring events with the exception of fire and sunlight. This technique does not prevent damage from any environmental effect created by a sentient being, such as a Mage’s lightning bolt. In the event such instances occur, the vampire instead treats his Resilience rating as armor against such attacks. As a general rule, any environmental effect that was caused directly by a sentient being bypasses this technique.

Flesh Stitch

Trigger: Healing damage with Vitae
Unlike most Techniques, Flesh Stitch permanently alters the vampire’s natural healing ability. For a single Vitae, the vampire can heal a number of bashing health levels equal to his Resilience rating (if higher than the standard two bashing per Vitae spent) or a number of lethal health levels equal to half his Resilience rating, rounded up. Further, each Vitae spent healing aggravated damage counts as a number of Vitae equal to his Resilience rating and the vampire may spent Vitae to heal aggravated damage instantly.

Perfect Immunity

While most vampires are immune to things like airborne toxins by virtue of their undead state, this discipline covers the remaining dangers of the natural world. Activating this discipline grants the vampire perfect immunity to all natural diseases and poisons for its duration. Unnatural diseases and poisons include anything created using supernatural or magical means, in which case the vampire adds his Resilience rating to the resistance roll (or half this value to the resistance trait, rounded down) if applicable. This discipline is primarily used before feeding to ignore diseases carried in the blood when the vampire feeds. Diseases and poisons the vampire is exposed to while this technique is active make contact with the vampires blood but are instantly destroyed, which means the having this discipline active does not risk the vampire to contracting a disease he was exposed to after Perfect Immunity wears off.

Regeneration

Trigger: Taking damage
Developing this Technique allows the vampire to regenerate his flesh naturally in much the same way living creatures do. In reality this Discipline does not allow the vampire’s flesh the same characteristics of living creatures, it merely augments the daily Vitae the vampire is required to expend upon waking. For the duration of the day (or longer if the vampire has special magic that allows him to stay awake for multiple days), the vampire periodically recovers from damage without needing to expend Vitae. He can “naturally” heal a single Bashing health level every (6 – Resilience rating) rounds (minimum 1 round), a single Lethal health level every (6 – Resilience rating) minutes (minimum 1 minute), and an Aggravated health level every (6 – Resilience rating) hours (minimum 1 hour). The vampire always heals the least severe damage first and this healing ceases if the vampire falls into torpor or meets true death.

Vitality Surge

While this technique is active, the vampire gains the 9 again rule on all Stamina-based rolls. This bonus does not apply on Discipline activation rolls.

Unique Clan Ability
The vampire that favors Resilience as a Clan Discipline chooses a single Technique to augment. Henceforth that Technique is activated as though the Vampire had an effective Resilience rating one higher than his actual rating. The vampire can change what Technique receives this benefit for a single experience point.
